On our 3rd day of wheelchair distribution in Trujillo, most of us are starting to get tired and feel sleep deprived from the strenuous work and long hours.. But after seeing the challenges that face the families of the those receiving wheelchairs, we realize that we don't really know the meaning of hard work! On the left is a photo of 38 year old Milton who came in with his 60+ year old mother to receive a new wheelchair today. She carries Milton up and down 14 steps every day and says she does it gladly.
Here is another dedicated mom carrying her son into the outreach. I have seen people walking long distances on the street carrying their loved ones in their arms because they don't have a wheelchair. We know that Jesus had a special love for disabled people as He always reached out to the lame, the blind, and the crippled. We are striving to be His hands and feet and share that special love.
Today this young 28 year old man name Jose Luis was brought into the outreach by firemen because he had no other way to get there. He had a traumatic brain injury 10 years ago and has not left his bed or bedroom for 10 years! Praise God that he has a loving family who were overjoyed with the wheelchair that will allow Jose to get out of bed, eat in an upright position and even move around his home.
Milton even received therapy and his family was shown how to stretch and move his limbs. Both Milton and His family heard the Gospel and experienced the love of Christ today..
