It is 10 minutes after 10 p.m. and one station continues to
work with our last recipient of the day. Most of that team hasn’t eaten dinner
yet. We are all very tired. Two o’clock this afternoon, I didn’t think I could
continue, but I stopped, took a deep breath, said a prayer and kept working. I
wanted to whine. I wanted to quit. I wanted to go take a nap. Then God tapped
me on the shoulder and told me to remember Eduardo.
A whole bus waited for the last young girl to get her wheel
chair at 10:30 p.m. Her return trip was 1.5 hours. Our team’s return time to
our hotel was a mere 5 minute walk away.
So what, if I began the morning by using tap water to brush
my teeth and flushing the toilet paper down the toilet instead of putting it
into the trash. (I had visions of getting horribly ill and the sewer system
backing up and flooding the town!) So what,
if I didn’t eat lunch or dinner at the “right” time. So what, if the dog ran
into the middle of our area and deposited his “business” on the floor. I am so
very blessed to be a part of the Trujillo WftW team, because God is allowing me
to witness the smiles of children like Eduardo. God has allowed me to pray with
Eduardo’s father as he accepted the Lord and then agreed to teach Eduardo about
Christ. So, I guess it wasn’t a “terrible,
horrible, no good, bad day” after all!
