Chepén to Trujillo

Today is Monday and we were fitting chairs this final day of distribution.  This day is one of anticipation (getting excited about returning to our own families) and sadness (saying good-bye to our wonderful Peruvian volunteers from both Chepen and Trujillo.  Our team at Station 5 took 5 hours to seat Katrina this morning!  She was a 13-year-old girl with cerebral palsy.  She has not had her own wheelchair and her mother carries her from one place to another.  Here is a Start and “almost” Finished picture of Katarin.  Her family were born-again Christians and it obviously showed in their faces as they looked with pride at their special daughter.

Our Station 5 team—Joan (Therapist), Mark (Mechanic), Gabby (our fabulous teenage translator), and Jody (Support)

We finally got all our supplies packed up, said our goodbyes to our Peruvian volunteers, and then boarded the bus in Chepen for our 2+ hour return trip to Trujillo.
On this mission journey I’d like to share some of the things for which I have become even more grateful…

Streets with sidewalks
Stoves

Front doors
Modern Bathrooms

But most of all, I am thankful that these, my Trujillo/Chepen WFTW team members, were willing to work long hours under some unusual conditions to share Jesus with over 200 Peruvian disabled individuals and their families.  God sent His Son, Jesus, to communicate his love for us.  We have also been sent to communicate God’s love by using our talents, loving actions, tears, and words to encourage those who were without hope.  May we never neglect expressing our thanks for your many gifts to us.
